St. Rita School hosts Awards Night

HAMDEN — The Saint Rita School Awards Night took place Tuesday, June 7. Members of the 7th grade class were inducted into the National Junior Honor Society and members of the graduating class were presented with awards for achievements in academics, service and athletics.

An address to his classmates was given by Andrew Jefferies, President of the Saint Rita School Student Council. The Home and School Association’s “Award of Excellence” was presented to Jefferies. This award is given to the eighth grade student who exemplifies the spirit of Saint Rita School.

On Friday, June 10, 39 students graduated from Saint Rita School at a celebration that included mass and commencement exercises at Saint Rita Church. An address to her classmates was given by Alison Kenney, President of National Junior Honor Society. Students who received scholarships to area high schools included: The Sr. Antonine Signorelli ascj Memorial Scholarship (Sacred Heart Academy) awarded to Tess Riley. The Bishop Hines Scholarship (Xavier High School) was awarded to Peter McEachern and Andrew Jefferies and The Moreau Academic Scholarship (Notre Dame High School) was awarded to Andrew Jefferies, Evan Mastriano, Sean Sweeney and James White.
